Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd Model Revolver (c.1880–1884)
Description
This antique Smith & Wesson .38 S&W; revolver is a 2nd Model Single Action top-break design,
manufactured circa 1880–1884. Chambered in .38 S&W; with a 5-shot cylinder and a 3.25-inch barrel,
it features the distinctive nickel-plated frame and hard rubber grip panels typical of the era. Serial
number 41299 is consistent with early production in the second model run, which succeeded the 1st
Model in 1877 and introduced mechanical refinements including a strengthened frame and modified
latch design.
