Description

The Thompson Center Big Boar is a .58 caliber muzzleloader designed specifically for hunters seeking significant "stopping power" or "whampability" for large game. Introduced in the early 1990s (around 1992), it features a rugged, no-frills design inspired by the traditional Hawken Plains rifle style.

According to original Thompson/Center manuals, common loads include:
Round Ball (.570" diameter): 80 to 110 grains of FFG black powder. At 100 grains, it produces approximately 1,263 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
Maxi-Ball / Maxi-Hunter (555-560 grains): 80 to 110 grains of FFG black powder. A 100-grain charge delivers roughly 1,854 ft-lbs of energy, making it a "night and day" difference compared to .50 caliber rifles for large game,
NO NICS BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED ON THIS SPECIFIC ITEM SO IT CAN BE SHIPPED DIRECTLY TO YOUR DOOR OR YOUR LOCAL GUN SHOP.
